Our History
Well known in most circles as a master artist and portrait photographer, Tim has always been much more. At age twelve he did his first recording sessions as a guitarist in a studio. Years later, he found playing in bands was fun, but recording became his priority.
By nineteen, he was more or less a full time session player, capable on many instruments and engineering tasks. At twenty,Tim released two singles and a solo album.
In the late seventies, Kelly made a personal commitment to Christ and concentrated more on contemporary christian music. He made a living doing photography and record producing with both studios in his home.
The growth in both enterprises never stopped. The two studios got bigger and better, keeping the guy with two full-time careers, two studios and a young family very busy.
Fast forward another four decades, and over this last 28 year span, Tim recorded his own songs, some favorites, and some spontaneous jam sessions whilst producing other projects. After completing his wife, Laura’s third album, released in 2022, he knew it was time to bring all these tracks he’d created into one final collection. Ultimately, his second solo album would be released exactly 50 years after his first.
“Shadows & Light” now completed, Tim continues down the same road God had set before him a long time ago, creating his fine art portraits, and helping others navigate the recording process successfully. Both have been a real joy and an undeserved blessing, all of my years.
Upper Room Music’s Chief Engineer, Xander Macnab, has been with the studio for nearly 25 years.
“URM Studio was built for the production of ORIGINAL MUSIC ONLY. We are a private facility working only with select artists, usually singer-songwriters.”
